Rapson Cave Chair
Description
Going through the impeccable furniture sketches of midcentury architect Ralph Rapson could possibly be one of the best ways to spend a cold winter afternoon in Minnesota. Loll found his Cave Chair illustration and immediately thought it would be a great collaboration piece that fit the aesthetic of their modern outdoor furniture. Ralph originally conceived this chair in 1943 as plywood with a cushion, but it was never actually produced.
Part of Loll's Rapson Collection, this perfectly oversized, futuristic, comfortable and fun, modern Cave Chair will induce hours of conversation – whether you're sitting in it or just walking by. Named after the earth-excavated Cave House that Ralph designed with Dave Runnells in 1939, it, too, was never built.

About Loll Designs
Loll crafts fun and contemporary all-weather furniture that’s designed to inspire joy and appreciation for being outside. Manufactured in Duluth, Minnesota from materials also sourced in the United States, they’re dedicated to helping local American communities and economies thrive. From adirondack chairs and loungers, to outdoor sofas, tables and storage solutions, Loll pieces are manufactured with a circular approach to design from recycled post-consumer and post-industrial plastics.
Loll materials are made up of recycled high-density polyethylene which is mainly sourced from single-use milk jug containers, and since 2005, they’ve converted over 135 million milk jugs into outdoor furniture. They also recycle more than 88% of their own manufacturing waste by creating extensive recycling programs around anything that can be reused. Every feature of a Loll piece is also able to be fully recycled again, and through a material reutilization program, customers are encouraged to return products at the end of their life cycle to ensure they don’t end up in landfills.
Certified by the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute which works with companies to prioritize the environment and human health, Loll also spearheads local events to clean trash and recyclable materials out of creek beds, plant trees, and help preserve the water quality and ecosystem closest to home. As proud members of 1% For The Planet, Loll works to improve their sustainability efforts every day by crafting durable outdoor furniture that’s kinder for the environment, and enjoyable for you.
